Program Note:
Seek is a piece that started from a little improvisation I was working on at the piano that eventually became the opening to the piece.  The music, which also begins in the piano, is an intimate, spinning arpeggio that circles endlessly around.  As the music unfolds, the spinning is transferred to other instruments and the music eventually transforms into new sections and styles.  Yet underneath, the music still has the spinning motive.  In my own mind, I imagine the motive as searching for resolution but never quite reaching it.  The music grows and takes new shapes but never quite achieves a sense of true repose.
